The Public Inquiry started on Tuesday 5 November at the Clarendon Hall, York House, Twickenham and finished on Thursday 12 December. There was a large turnout of members on Day 1, following which members were able to watch the proceedings on Webcast in the comfort of their homes.

Three members gave evidence at the inquiry on behalf of the Mortlake Brewery Community Group, namely Howard Potter on traffic, Dorian Crone on the heritage and Geoff Woodhouse on the need for the secondary school.

Other members spoke including the Chair on the results of a survey carried out of members’ views on the benefits and harms of the scheme, and also Richard White of our Committee on the so-called letters of support tabled by the client which turned out to be false. Richard also provided a daily blog about the inquiry under the heading of East Sheen Matters.

The Inspector who chaired the inquiry has twice the length of time of the inquiry to write his report which should emerge some time in March. However, there may be a delay pending a decision first on whether the Department for Education accepts the need, or otherwise, for the secondary school.
